Thursday, July 21, 2005Illuminated Ghost
It was taken during a blackout in my neighborhood last week, when there were candles lit all around the house (back to the old ways of living). I settled on this one, for its simplicity and drooping vertical lines, which are more striking in the firelight. Captured like this, it is an illuminated ghost, floating in black space, alone in its fiery solitude.
Sort of ethereal, yet everpresent. Somehow, it is both of those at once. This image is a glance at its transient state--and yet the image is a look into the static realm of things as well. The real realm, where certain things never change.
